In the spring of 2003, after 10 years of hard work, Peter Haughton, owner of Japanese Motor Works, proudly watched his dream become a reality with the completion of his new facility at 200 Firefighter Court, Athens, Ga.

The building was designed to be the most tech-friendly shop possible. Why is tech-friendly so important? Because the better the facilities, the more time you can give to the customer and the customer's vehicle and pick up on those little details that might be missed by working in less than ideal conditions.

The building is 7,500 square feet of shop space. The floor sloped so that it is self-draining, but cars won't roll if left in neutral.

There are six Rotary SPOA 9000 lifts, and these lifts have been placed so three-point turns aren't needed to get vehicles in and out of the shop.

All the lifts have overhead air, oil and electricity. Internet access is provided throughout the shop, giving each employee access to the latest and most up-to-date information to service vehicles.

Each of the bays has a sink with hot water for clean hands and floors. Protective floor mats aren't needed for the vehicles we repair at Japanese Motor Works. Cars typically leave cleaner than when they arrive.

Within our new facilities there is also a machine shop facility to manufacture all kinds of high-pressure fluid lines and hoses for many applications including, but not limited to, air conditioning and power steering.
